DeMar DeRozan’s 27 points lead Spurs past Kings


LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla .– DeMar DeRozan scored 17 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter to help the San Antonio Spurs pull out and beat the Sacramento Kings 129-120 on Friday night.

DeRozan shot 10 of 13 and got 10 assists for Spurs, who shot 53.3 percent from the field.

Derrick White tied a career-high 26 points in Game 1 of San Antonio’s resumption. The Spurs needed to find an offense because LaMarcus Aldridge, the team’s second scorer, had shoulder surgery in April and won’t play in the recovery.

Before the game, coach Gregg Popovich and assistant Becky Hammon performed the national anthem while the rest of the coaches and players from both teams knelt.

De’Aaron Fox scored a career-high 39 points and Bogdan Bogdanovic added 24 for the Kings, who are looking to break a 13-year playoff drought.

The teams reversed their positions in the standings, with the Spurs edging the Kings by half a game. The two are in the group chasing the Memphis Grizzlies for eighth place in the Western Conference.

The Kings led 65-64 at halftime behind 20 points from Fox. The Kings shot 57% before the break. Blanc scored 15 points in the first half.

San Antonio led 114-112 before DeRozan scored 10 points in the 2:23 final to help put the game out of reach.
