However, having to dine to qualify for the discount left many people unable to use it.
But now Deliveroo has decided to launch their own Eat In to Help discount for September – which is good news for those of us who would rather stay at home.
There will be a different code for customers to enter for each of the five weeks in September, the Mirror reports.
Deliveroo founder Will Shu said: « Deliveroo is passionate about supporting local restaurants, which are the heart of our business and so many shopping streets in the UK.
“Our restaurant partners play a vital role in our economy, just as they do in people’s daily lives, bringing people the food they love. We know they have been hit hard recently, and we hope that our Eat IN to Help Out program can play a role in helping their businesses through this difficult time. ”
More than 16,000 local restaurants have already signed up to Deliveroo’s “Eat In to Help Out” program, with national chains having the option of participating – provided they fund the reduction themselves.
To encourage more people to use delivery and support local restaurants, Deliveroo is also offering new customers 14-day free delivery for the months of September and October.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak said: “Our Eat out to help out program was designed to help restaurants reopen and protect the two million jobs in this industry, giving it the boost it needed.
“I hope people continue to show their support for this vital part of our economy and Deliveroo’s new Eat In to Help Out program is another way for them to do it.
