‘Decided by mutual agreement’ – Aston Villa & Wolves transfer target left out of squad for friendly

Aston Villa and Wolves target Milot Rashica was excluded from the Werder Bremen squad this weekend “due to the situation regarding a possible transfer”.The 24-year-old has long been touted of a move to the West Midlands for a transfer of £ 33million, the price of his exit clause enshrined in his Bremen contract which expires in the summer of 2022.

The Kosovar international clubbed 11 home goals in just 32 Bundesliga and German Cup appearances last season – despite playing for a side that finished third from the bottom.

Milot Rashica

Rashica, meanwhile, was the last in action for Bremen’s survival play-off against second-tier FC Heidenheim last month, starting both matches as Bremen won on away goals.

However, on Sunday the attacking midfielder – who can play on both flanks – was left out of his squad’s 22-man squad for a pre-season friendly against Eintracht Braunschweig.

Bremen manager Florian Kohfeldt has lined up two separate starting XIs for the warm-up game ahead of the Bundesliga return next month.

Ahead of his side’s 2-0 win, Kohfeldt was asked about the omission of star man Rashica – and the German provided a revealing answer amid stern interest.

He told Bulinews: “We have decided by mutual agreement not to use Milot in this game due to the situation regarding a possible transfer. ”

As for Rashica, the big man – who recorded five assists last year – was due to join RB Leipzig as a replacement for new Chelsea boy Timo Werner, but no move has materialized.

Clubs of interest are expected to look to seize Rashica at a discounted price of around £ 20million – more than £ 10million below his stated release clause.

As stated, Villa and Wolves are in the powerful wing market with an eye for goal and Rashica certainly fits the bill.
