New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said on Monday that it “would have to be blind” to think that calls for further calls to investigate coronavirus deaths linked to state nursing homes amid the pandemic were ” not political ”.
Cuomo, at a press conference on Monday, said he would “not be investigating” nursing home deaths during the coronavirus pandemic in New York state.
“I wouldn’t do an investigation, whether it’s political or not, everyone can make that decision for themselves,” Cuomo said. “I think you have to be blind to realize that it’s not political.

Cuomo blamed “dirty politics” for the accusations he faced about his order, which he ultimately quashed on May 10.
Representative Steve Scalise, R-La., Who is the head of a House subcommittee on the COVID crisis, said in a letter to Cuomo last month that “[b]The lame, insulting and half-baked data manipulations will not make the facts or the questions they raise go away. ”

Meanwhile, Cuomo on Monday urged the public to “examine the basic facts about where New York is in relation to other states.”
“You look at where New York City is as a percentage of retirement home deaths,” he said. “Everything is at the bottom of the list of states.”
“So I don’t think anybody knows what’s political, what isn’t,” he continued. “Everyone can make their own decisions.”
