COVID-19 outbreak declared at New Westminster nursing home


NEW WESTMINSTER (NEWS 1130) – A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at a sixth nursing home in the Fraser Health area.The last is in New Westminster at the Queen’s Park Care Center, according to the health authority.

It relates to the centre’s acute care service, but it is not known whether or how many a resident or staff member is infected.

Outbreaks remain active at five other long-term and independent living care facilities in the region: Dania Home, Maple Ridge Seniors Village, Derby Manor, George Derby Center and New Vista Care Society.


The Vancouver Coastal Health Authority lists an active outbreak at Holy Family Hospital that has seen 21 COVID-19-related deaths – the second largest in all facilities in British Columbia, behind Langley Lodge in front of Lynn Valley Care Center.

The list of COVID-19 exhibits in Fraser Health also continues to grow, with one at the Royal Jerk Spot Weekend Summer Fest Day and Night Rave, at the Royal Beauty Supply on 105A Avenue in Surrey.

The exhibition dates are July 21 to August 2, 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
