COVID-19 Live Updates: Over 4.6 Million US Cases, New York Hospitals Record New Low

NEW YORK (WABC) – Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Saturday’s hospitalizations were the lowest since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, he said 556 have been hospitalized, while the number of ICUs fell to 143 and intubations decreased slightly to 71. Three new deaths were reported.During that time, there have been more than 4.6 million cases of the coronavirus across the United States. Texas has passed New York in the total number of coronavirus cases.

The CDC now predicts nearly 30,000 additional deaths nationwide from the virus over the next three weeks.

35 states and Puerto Rico are currently grappling with an increase in the number of daily deaths. In New Jersey, 331 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 6 confirmed deaths were announced on Sunday.

NYC SUBMITS A “DIAGRAM”, NOT THE SCHOOL REOPENING PLAN: CUOMO ADVISOR
New York City has submitted a “plan,” not a plan, to reopen its public schools in the fall, Senior Advisor to Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Sunday, as the governor reiterated that parents and teachers do not ‘wouldn’t go to school buildings without a plan. Cuomo councilor Jim Malatras said it “looks like a plan, not a plan,” noting that it was only 30 pages long, while small school districts submitted much longer plans.

SLA DISTRIBUTE MORE VIOLATIONS
The National Liquor Authority distributed 36 violations on Saturday evening, visiting about 1,000 establishments. Since the creation of the working group, ALS has visited 13,000 establishments.

POSITIVE CASES OF THE NJ FALL AGAIN
For the second day in a row, newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 in New Jersey have fallen. Gov. Phil Murphy announced on Twitter Sunday that the number of new positive cases in the state stood at 331 on Saturday. The state also reported 6 new deaths linked to COVID-19.

YANKEES VS. REPLACED PHILLIES SERIES
The New York Yankees will play a four-game home and home series with the Philadelphia Phillies next week. The series begins with two games at Yankee Stadium on Monday August 3 and Tuesday August 4, followed by two games at Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday August 5 and Thursday August 6. Start times are to be determined.

CALIFORNIA REPORTS LARGEST NUMBER OF DAILY DEATHS

The California Department of Public Health reports more than 500,000 cases of COVID. They also report a record number of deaths on Saturday at 219.
