Covid-19 cuts temporary jobs in UK | Business

Record numbers of people in Britain are looking for temporary work as job losses across the country increase, according to recruitment firms that have been inundated with resumes. The Confederation of Recruitment and Employment (REC) and accounting firm KPMG said the number of people signing up to find temporary work increased in July at the fastest pace since the records began in 1997.

The recruitment industry lobby group said the record increase in the number of available candidates was largely due to layoffs resulting from the pandemic, as a growing number of companies across the country cut jobs .

For permanent staff, availability increased at the second-fastest rate on record – growth in the number of people looking for work in July only exceeded November 2008 during the depths of the financial crisis.
