Courteney Cox returns for the next iteration of the popular ‘Scream’ movie franchise.
The “Friends” star confirmed she would reprise her role as reporter Gale Weathers in an Instagram post on Friday.
“Can’t wait to see that face again,” Cox said of the iconic black and white mask that has seen many Halloween nights in his four films which debuted in 1996 and grossed over 600. million dollars in the global box office.

Cox’s ex-husband David Arquette as Dewey Riley is also set to return for the fifth installment.
“I am delighted to play Dewey again and to reunite with my Scream family, old and new,” Arquette said in a statement, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Scream has been such a big part of my life, and for the fans and myself, I can’t wait to honor Wes Craven’s legacy. ”

Cox has appeared in all previous “Scream” films, released in 1996, 1997, 2000 and 2011 respectively.
“We can’t imagine ‘Scream’ without the iconic Gale Weathers and we are incredibly thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to work with Courteney,” said Radio Silence, the cinematic arm behind the reboot. “We are absolute mega fans of her work and we are delighted to join her in the next chapter of the ‘Scream’ saga!”

Filming on the all-new “Scream” will begin later this year in Wilmington, NC
