Could J. Cole soon hang up his hat in the rap game for a career in the NBA? Master P certainly seems to think that is a possibility.

Last week, Cole and Puma published an ad for Dreamer, the new line of signature sneakers from the 35-year-old “No Role Modelz” rapper. After 30 seconds, Cole is training hard on the basketball court while Master P recounts in the background.

“You can’t be serious. I know you’re not about to try to do what I think you’re going to try to do, because that would be crazy. And you’re not crazy are you? I mean, what’s the odds? Hip-hop mogul No Limit Records, who signed contracts with the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets and Toronto Raptors in the 1990s, said in an advertisement.

It’s well documented that Cole is a force to be reckoned with on the pitch. In a recent essay for Derek Jeter Player’s standCole wrote about giving up playing basketball at St. John’s University to pursue his dream of becoming a hip-hop star.

Raising even more questions about Cole’s possible future in professional sports, Master P told TMZ he has had conversations with the Dream city rapper on what it would take to be successful in the NBA.

“When I spoke to J. Cole, he said, ‘You know, big dog, you did. What do you think I should do to make it happen? “” Master P told TMZ. “I said, getting one of these NBA jerseys is not going to be easy. It’s gonna be a lot of hate, it’s gonna be a lot of people who won’t believe you, but you know J. Cole – he’s the right size, him in the gym! ”

Master P continued: “But, what I told him, we are in another era. They will separate you! You’re going to have to be able to hit every shot and if you don’t hit every shot, they – you know in the NBA, they don’t hit every shot but they believe in them. So you’re going to have to go somewhere where the team really believes in you and the players believe in you. ”

Master P added that Cole wouldn’t get a free NBA pass just because he’s a famous rapper.

“They put their whole lives in it. So you are going to have to prove that you are worthy of being on this court, ”he said. “I believe in him and I believe that he is a young person who has a lot of desire. ”

In addition to promoting his new line of shoes with Puma, Cole is also working on his upcoming album, The fall.
