Allison Hanes: New sense of urgency to help Montreal’s homeless

A new phase of the city’s emergency plans for the homeless was unveiled on Thursday at the former Royal Victoria Hospital. This includes three new sites providing shelter for an additional 200 people, for a total of 850 emergency beds as we head into fall. Managed by non-profit groups, these will replace some existing centers that are in the process of closing, but will contribute to an overall increase in services.
