Coronavirus: How the lockdown “stole” mum’s mourning

Jenny Wilson’s mother died just as the UK was on lockdown. The 18-year-old’s mother was diagnosed with throat cancer in June 2019. Even though she had no more salivary glands and couldn’t eat much, she continued to insist on cooking for Jenny, his sister and their father.

The family were unable to hold a public funeral due to coronavirus restrictions.

Jenny spoke to the BBC about grieving difficulties without being able to speak at her mother’s funeral or reunite with family and friends.
