Conor McGregor is getting married to his longtime girlfriend Dee Devlin, he announced on Instagram on Saturday.
McGregor posted a photo of him and Devlin – who sported a massive ring – with the caption: “What a birthday, my future wife!” Devlin’s 33rd birthday is Sunday.
McGregor, 32, has two children with Devlin, Conor Jack McGregor Jr., born in May 2017, and Croia McGregor, born in January 2019.
The couple have been together since 2008, sharing McGregor’s meteoric rise from plumbing apprentice and amateur fighter to the world’s most famous MMA fighter. McGregor has repeatedly cited Devlin as a huge reason for her success and calls her his “queen”. Devlin also plays a role in several McGregor businesses.
McGregor was praised for the news by his longtime coach John Kavanagh and teammate Dillon Dannis.
In June, McGregor announced his retirement for the third time in his career, thanking fans for their support. Few in the MMA industry expect the decision to stand, although the former two-division champion will not be fighting again this year, according to UFC president Dana White.
McGregor returned to the Octagon in January after a layoff of more than a year with a first-round stoppage win over Donald Cerrone. He called for a rematch with champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who submitted it in 2018, and invited fights with Jorge Masvidal and Anderson Silva. White has opened up the possibility of facing the winner of an upcoming title unifier between Nurmagomedov and interim champion Justin Gaethje, which takes place in October at UFC 254.
