The new coronavirus continues to spread in the community at large, according to the most recent figures from the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit.
On Saturday, WECHU reported the total number of COVID-19 cases in the region at 2,325 – an increase of 19 from Friday morning.
Six of the newly confirmed patients are agro-agricultural workers in the region.
Nine of the cases are attributed to community transmission.
Four of the cases are still under investigation for their origin.
Windsor-Essex has the worst COVID-19 infection rate per capita in Ontario and remains the only region in the province that has not made progress towards reopening Stage 3.
On Saturday, the health unit lists active COVID-19 outbreaks at six manufacturing plants in the region, five farms, two long-term care or retirement facilities, and one construction workplace.

Meanwhile, the health unit continues to ask anyone who frequented a restaurant in east Windsor on two specific dates to monitor themselves for symptoms of COVID-19 due to the revelation that an employee of the establishment was working unknowingly while infectious.
