Co Down businesses close after positive Covid-19 tests


Two Co Down businesses have closed after staff tested positive for the coronavirus. Both Bon Bon and Kent Amusements in Newcastle today announced that staff members have tested positive for Covid-19.

It comes just days after Newcastle’s Barbican SuperValu was forced to close after a ‘handful’ of staff tested positive.

Sweet shop, The Bon Bon posted a statement on social media saying: “In the last hour we have been informed that a staff member has tested positive for Covid-19.

“We will be closed until further notice when we have received the appropriate advice. We had taken precautions earlier in the week and thoroughly cleaned and required staff and customers to wear masks due to so many local cases that we were hoping to avoid this situation.

“We would appreciate your understanding and support during this time. ”

More than one Kent Amusements staff member has tested positive for the virus and it will be closed until further notice.

A statement was posted on social media saying: ‘Unfortunately, this morning Kent Amusements was informed that some of our staff have tested positive for Covid-19.

“We will therefore be closed until further notice. We have taken all necessary precautions, risk assessments and procedures to ensure the safety of our staff and customers.

“We continue to perform a thorough cleaning of the premises and all of our staff will be tested for Covid19. We will reopen when we are sure we can do so safely. We thank all of our customers and staff for their much appreciated support during this unprecedented operation. time.

“We also send our best wishes to our staff who have tested positive, other local businesses and their employees and the general public who have tested positive for Covid-19 and wish them all a speedy recovery and a safe return. health.
