“Birtherism now against Kamala Harris, Joe Biden’s running mate who is a black woman,” the host continued. “Does that mean anything to you?”
Lemon then released an excerpt from the briefing when Trump was asked about a ‘discredited’ Newsweek column questioning Harris’s eligibility for vice president. Instead of rejecting it, the president said he would look into the matter, telling reporters: “I don’t know if it’s true. I would have assumed the Democrats would have checked this out before she was chosen to run for vice-president.
“This man is so full of it, all of you,” Lemon said of Trump. ” Let’s go. He knows better than that. He’s the President of the United States. Shouldn’t he have a minimum of decency and class to just say, “Listen, come on, let’s talk about something real. Many people have died from the coronavirus. This is serious. Kamala Harris is on the vice presidential ticket. Moving forward.’ ”
The host explained to viewers that he was just considering “ignoring” Trump’s latest “dumb and stupid conspiracy theory”, but ultimately decided he couldn’t just “let the ugliness go unchallenged.”
