‘Clueless’ Gets Series Reboot, This Time With Dionne Davenport Leading

“Clueless” returns, and this time the spotlight is on Dionne Davenport.

A reboot series of the classic 1995 film is in development at Peacock, NBC’s streaming service, a spokesperson confirmed to CNN. But rather than focusing on everyone’s favorite Dear Horowitz, played by Alicia Silverstone, this show should focus on Stacey Dash’s character, Dionne Davenport – the best friend.

“A pale, bisexual pink tinted with blue, tiny wearing sunglasses, an oat milk latte, and Adderall’s fed look at what happens when Queen Cher goes missing and her No. 2 in a Dionne’s life enters Cher’s vacant Air Jordans, ”a description of the show reads. “How Dionne deals with the pressure of being the most popular new girl in school, while also unraveling the mystery of what happened to her best friend.”

The show is slated to be written by Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey, both of whom have worked on shows like “Will and Grace” and “Man with a Plan.”

This is not the first reboot of “Clueless,” which was a tale loosely based on Jane Austen’s “Emma”, following Horowitz’s adventures as she sailed changing the dynamics of friendship and romance at high school. The show has become something of a cult favorite, mostly for its iconic slogans and pop culture references.

In 1996, a spin-off television series was developed and ran for three seasons. In 2018, a musical version of the popular film also debuted off Broadway.
