Mark – who is diabetic – received a weight warning from doctors as he tipped the scales on the 27th earlier this year.
He has since managed to bring his weight back below 23rd and hopes to drop even further below 20th and bring his BMI to below 30.
Opening up to his fear of health, Mark told The Sun on Sunday: “I was suspected of Covid at the end of February and was fired from work at home, for the first time in 15 years, Wednesday 27.
“ITV was great and took no chances.
“Because the testing capacity was so limited back then, I never did a formal test, but all I can say is that for two weeks I had a total loss of appetite, no smell, high temperature, exhaustion and the worst fever of my life.
Mark went on to detail how he was hit with ‘rapid attacks’ during the night as he weakened while shaking uncontrollably – which he said was a symptom of his coronavirus diagnosis.
He then explained that he was warned last Christmas to lose weight after doctors issued him a “red” warning about his weight.
He said, “I hardly ate for two weeks, but since then the weight has continued to drop because I have continued to eat sensibly. I knew I had to do it.
“I am still losing weight and starting to notice the difference in the photos which I can assure you are not retouched!”
Mark has been married to his wife Katie since March 2014 and together they have a three year old son.
The ITV star credits her weight loss to “giving up chocolate” and “chasing” her young son.
