Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is 4K, 120 fps on PS5

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will run at 120 fps in 4K resolution, according to a report released by Venture Beat. It’s unclear if the title will get a full native 2160p image, but it’s more likely that it will be rendered at a lower resolution and then use reconstruction techniques. The framerate seems achievable, however, given that the first-person shooter is also slated for release on the PlayStation 4, where it will run at the series standard of 60 fps.

The post references many next-gen improvements to the title, including support for DualSense controller haptic feedback, as well as significantly improved load times. There will also be real-time ray tracing, as well as full HDR support. But perhaps most interesting of all, the title will take advantage of Sony’s new 3D audio engine, meaning you’ll be able to pinpoint the location of approaching footsteps and enemy fire more accurately than ever.

We’ll check with Activision to confirm these details, but if they’re correct, this is another 120 fps game to add to our list of all 120 fps PS5 games. Pleasant!
