University of Lethbridge makes masks mandatory on campus
Starting August 10, anyone on the University of Lethbridge campus will be required to wear a face mask or non-medical mask.
Masks will only be needed in interior spaces. People working on campus will not be required to wear the mask in their office, unless they are located in an area facing a public space.
The rules for masks will also apply to summer camp participants.
The university says it is purchasing reusable masks for all faculty, staff and students enrolled in face-to-face classes this fall. They will not be available until the end of August.
Federal government to end CERB program
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said the government will create a transitional benefit to help workers who are running out of emergency pandemic aid and are not eligible for EI.
Canada’s $ 80 billion emergency response benefit is expected to end in the next few weeks, and those who qualify for EI will move to this separate program.
Speaking this morning, Trudeau said many people who do not qualify for the program, such as on-demand workers or contract workers, will have access to a parallel transitional benefit similar to EI.
