NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A Brooklyn grandmother returned home after battling the coronavirus since March.The family of Marie Jean-Pierre describes it as a miracle.

Her fight began on March 21 as she struggled to breathe.

CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC

Jean-Pierre spent two months in the hospital, then was transferred to a rehabilitation center where she learned to walk and speak again.

Her family says she’s been waiting for this moment every day since.

Jean-Pierre gave some advice on what got her through it all.

“Try to get up and exercise. Do what they tell you. You know, don’t be mean to people, be nice and you’ll go a long way, ”she said.

As for what she expects the most, she said food and spending time with her family.
