Defensive end Branden Jackson was knocked out in the Seahawks mock game on Saturday at CenturyLink Field, Bob Condotta of Seattle Times reports. Jackson was rushed off the field in an ambulance and taken to hospital.
“Terribly unhappy,” said coach Pete Carroll.
Carroll canceled the dress rehearsal after Jackson’s injury, which occurred after about 30 minutes of work.
Jackson had movement in his extremities after colliding with offensive lineman Cedric Ogbuehi as Jackson chased running back Carlos Hyde.
“He hit the head with Cedric and could have grabbed him in the chin with his helmet and it was like a punch, that’s what it was,” Carroll said. “So we took every precaution and took care of him, and he had movement and all that sort of thing. But we still had to do the right thing and take total care of him until we knew more.
