Tradingview said Friday that Bitcoin and Tesla, the electric car maker and clean energy company, are the United States’ most viewed assets on the charting platform.
Bitcoin (BTC) has climbed more than 60% since the start of the year, with the price hitting $ 11,900 at press time. The surge has attracted thousands of new investors – both retail and institutional – to cryptocurrency.
Likewise, Tesla’s share price has more than tripled this year, from $ 402 on Jan.1 to $ 1,650, due to a positive future outlook for the electric vehicle industry.
“As publicly traded companies like Apple approach a market cap of $ 2,000 billion, it seems traders and investors still aren’t paying as much attention,” Tradingview said in a statement.
“For now, the data clearly shows that Tesla and Bitcoin are the two assets that everyone looks at most often,” he added.
Throughout July, Tesla was the most watched stock in 31 US states, but bitcoin was not far behind.
“Our results also show that the Southeast favors forex and that the west coast states of California, Washington and Oregon are turning to bitcoin. The West Coast loves crypto the most, ”Tradingview noted.
Bitcoin rose sharply in 2020, fueled by the relentless printing of fiat money by governments and central banks, anxious to keep their economies afloat in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Amid the economic recession, investors seeking to hedge against inflation piled up in the first cryptocurrency.
For example, Nasdaq-listed Microstrategy Inc. this week adopted bitcoin as its primary cash reserve, spending $ 250 million on 21,444 BTC. The company has described bitcoin as a “reliable store of value … greater than cash.”
