Neil Lennon’s side are said to be ‘determined to keep him’ but Villa is desperate to attack reinforcements ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

The link sent fans on social media into a frenzy, with one saying: “If we sign Edouard from Celtic we have pulled off the biggest signing for Villa this decade. ”

“Edouard… Bring him to B6,” posted another.

A third wrote: “I wouldn’t mind [Ollie] Watkins at Villa, but he should be a bench player and try to push himself to get into the roster. We should look a little more for the position of main striker, Edouard Imo is perfect, I’ve been a fan of him since last season. ”

“I said it 2 weeks ago about Edouard, a quality striker! And as a Celtic & Villa fan I would be happy to do that, ”said another.

An enthusiastic fifth supporter said: “Edward is a stat darling who REALLY shines in Scotland. He would almost top my list for forwards. “
