Dimitar Berbatov believes Bayer Leverkusen ace Kai Havertz will be an “incredible” signing for Chelsea, but believes they need to resolve the goalkeeper situation urgently.

Berbatov, the former Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur forward, was impressed with the Blues’ affairs in the summer transfer window, with Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech already walking through the door.

However, he believes Frank Lampard needs to sign a goalkeeper with Kepa Arrizabalaga sliding down the pecking order.

And he thinks Jan Oblak would be the perfect signing.

“They definitely need a goalkeeper and Jan Oblak would be a great option,” Berbatov told Betfair.

“Timo Werner was a good deal, and Willian looks like he could stay if he wins the FA Cup.

Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid reacts during the warm-up before the start of the La Liga match between Club Atletico de Madrid and Real Sociedad at Wanda Metropolitano on July 19, 2020 in Madrid, Spain. Football stadiums across Europe remain empty due to the coronavirus pandemic as government social distancing laws ban fans inside venues, resulting in all matches being held behind closed doors.

“There are still rumors that Kai Havertz would be an incredible player for them. ”

Kepa’s future looks uncertain after being dropped again by Frank Lampard for Premier League final clash against Wolves.

But despite the seemingly urgent need to land a new goalkeeper, Lampard has so far prioritized offensive rookies.

It remains to be seen whether Lampard will choose to start Kepa or Willy Caballero in Saturday’s FA Cup final against Arsenal.
