Chinese state-affiliated media openly support Joe Biden’s victory in November, fueling warnings from U.S. intelligence officials of Beijing’s plan to interfere in the upcoming elections on his behalf.
But unlike Russian meddling in 2016, a new article published on the Chinese state tabloid Global Times website that deemed Biden “more manageable” than President Trump drew little attention in the United States. United, conservative commentator Ben Shapiro observed Thursday.

“It looks like it should be a big story that the Chinese media are openly pushing for Biden, and this information suggests that the Chinese government wants to interfere in the election on behalf of China,” Shapiro wrote on Twitter. “But Orange Man Bad, so I guess not. ”
The article argues that “many Chinese analysts predict that China will have to deal with Biden for at least the next four years,” citing foreign policy experts who claim that consensus is shared “around the world.”
“For China, given that Biden was vice president during Obama’s tenure and had a lot of experience dealing with Chinese leaders, we would expect to facilitate more effective communication with Biden if he wins, ”says the author.
Earlier this week, Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe told Fox News that China posed “a greater threat to the national security” of the United States “than any other nation,” warning of “l ‘electoral influence and interference’.

While Russia was widely seen as favoring current President Trump and seeking to wreak havoc in America during the 2016 campaign, China appears to have the singular goal of losing Trump in November. Yet congressional Democrats like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, who since 2016 have issued dire warnings about Russian interference, have failed was also articulate about China’s potential to interfere in the 2020 elections.
Pelosi, D-Calif., Said last week that threats of interference from Russia and China are “not equal,” while urging the intelligence community to release more information on the efforts of the Russia and claiming that Moscow “actively interferes 24/7 in our elections. . ”

Ratcliffe said the threat from China is actually significant and that he is “committing the CI [intelligence commuity] the resources to fully understand the threat posed by China and to provide US policymakers with the best intelligence to counter China’s wide and deep pernicious activities.
