Australia on Wednesday recorded its deadliest day in the coronavirus pandemic and the largest daily increase in infections in three days, which distorts hopes that a second wave gripping Victoria state could stabilize.A cluster of infections in Melbourne, the Victorian capital and Australia’s second largest city, forced authorities last week to impose a nighttime curfew, tighten restrictions on the daily movement of people and order the shutting down much of the state’s economy.
