Aubameyang has been Arsenal’s most important player this year.
The Gabonese striker has scored both goals in the FA Cup final and semi-final this year helping the Gunners win the cup for the 14th time.
He also scored Arsenal’s goal and the winning penalty as they beat Liverpool to win the Community Shield on Saturday.
Over the days he has continued to prove why he needs to be kept and the club are doing everything they can to keep him.
Mikel Arteta remained convinced that the captain will sign a new deal soon and this appears to have been corroborated by respected journalist Fabrizio Romano.
He claimed that the striker would indeed sign a new deal shortly before adding that he had rejected two other offers to stay at Arsenal.
He tweeted: “Mikel Arteta has just reconfirmed that Pierre Aubameyang is“ close ”to extending his contract. Arsenal consider the deal almost ‘done and done’, the deal is done – they turned down 2 other offers. Gabriel Magalhães will be announced shortly. “
