Aston Villa have been linked with a stunning blow for Juventus forward Gonzalo Higuain.The Argentinian, whose previous Premier League experience extends only to his short loan spell at Chelsea in the 2018-19 season, appears to have no future at Juve and new boss Andrea Pirlo is open to him.

Italian midfielder legend Pirlo recently confirmed: “He was a great champion, a great player but the cycle is over.

“We looked each other in the eye, we spoke and we made this decision. I admire him a lot, but we decided that the paths would separate.

Higuain scored 66 goals for the Old Lady after arriving from Napoli for £ 75million in 2016, but ended up on loan to Chelsea and fellow Italian giants AC Milan around this time.

He still had a year’s contract at Turin, but this despite the club themselves trying to end the deal with no luck. Instead, they seek to move it to new pasture in the window.

Villa, looking for a new striker to lead the line ahead of the new campaign, has been credited with an interest in the Italian press with La Repubblica claiming that they and their Premier League rivals West Ham United have come together. inquired about the possibility of bringing him back to England. and even had preliminary talks with its representatives.

They add, however, that there is nothing imminent in terms of agreement.

Higuain, who is 32, has scored five goals in 14 top-flight appearances for Chelsea under Maurizio Sarri. He also played for Real Madrid and River Plate, in his native Argentina, before in his career.

The French-born striker has also represented Argentina 75 times and scored 31 goals before scoring his international career time in 2018.
