Ant and Dec quit social media to spend more time with their families

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have announced that they are leaving social media for the rest of the summer so they can spend time with their family. The couple took to Instagram today to confirm they are taking a four-week break so they can spend some quality time with loved ones before returning to work.

In a joint statement, they shared a photo of themselves sitting on a sofa relaxing and reading magazines under the banner “See you in four weeks”.

They have confirmed their intention to return to social media at the end of the month.

In a joint post, they wrote: “We both take a few weeks break to spend time with family and friends. We wish everyone a happy month and the end of August! “

Over the past few months, the duo have kept their fans entertained with regular updates that included social distancing skits filmed from home.

Their videos included a hilarious video-call recorded fight, a social-distancing badminton match, and a drag clip.

Dec, 44, will likely use the next few weeks to spend some quality time with his wife Ali Astall and their young daughter Isla.

They’ve been entertaining fans with their hilarious antics for months

Ant recently moved into a new home with his girlfriend Anne-Marie Corbett with their dogs and two children from a previous relationship.

The presenter duo’s next job will likely be to film on Britain’s Got Talent.

Auditions for the show aired earlier this year as the episodes were conducted before the coronavirus outbreak.

However, the series was cut short because ITV bosses were unable to shoot the finals live, which usually take place in front of a live audience.

BGT will return in the fall with the shows pre-recorded and aired on Saturday nights.
