Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has been discharged from hospital after recovering from coronavirus.

The 77-year-old man had been treated at a Mumbai hospital for three weeks, but has now tested negative and will be resting at home.

His actor son, Abhishek Bachchan, is still in Nanavati Super Specialist Hospital with the virus.

The youngest Bachchan wrote on Twitter: “My father luckily tested negative on his last COVID-19[feminine[feminine test and was released from the hospital. He will now be home and rest.

“Thank you all for all your prayers and wishes for him. ”

He added that he would remain in the hospital himself “due to certain comorbidities”.

“Once again, thank you all for your continued wishes and prayers for my family. Very humble and grateful, ”he said.

The pair were both admitted to hospital July 11.

They would have “mild symptoms” and Abhishek had told their millions of fans not to panic.

Elder Bachchan is India’s most famous movie star and has appeared in over 200 films over the past five decades.

Although the Bollywood film industry returned to filming, he was unable to return to the set due to his age.
