All four regions in Bristol area see increase in coronavirus cases


All four areas in the Bristol region have seen an increase in coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours.Four new patients were diagnosed with Covid-19 today (August 26), according to figures released by Public Health England.

This brings our city’s total to 1,463.

Bath and North East Somerset saw an increase of three, bringing its total to 399 – but figures for that region were not available yesterday.

While four more cases have been recorded in South Gloucestershire, which now has 818.

North Somerset reported an increase of one, bringing the district total to 933.

Across the UK, 328,846 people have now tested positive, an increase of 1,048 in the past 24 hours.

Covid deaths

None of Bristol’s hospital trusts have recorded coronavirus-related deaths since the start of July.

The total number of locally registered deaths stands at 272 since the start of the pandemic.

Today’s figures show 41,465 people have died across the UK – 16 of them in the past 24 hours.


The numbers come on the same day it was revealed that high school children will be required to wear face masks when moving through hallways and common areas.

This does not include classrooms and does not apply to primary-age students.
