“Town leaders are sad to see Vanderpool go, but are happy he hasn’t gone too far,” Mayor Fred Smith said. “He’s helped our city do so many things. You can’t ask for a better city manager. ”
Vanderpool is expected to start with the city of Anaheim in September.
Aaron France, current Assistant City Manager of Buena Park, will assume the role of Interim City Manager from September.
France started her career at the City of Buena Park in 2005, as an Administrative Analyst in the office of the General Manager. He was appointed Assistant City Manager of Vanderpool in 2012, then promoted Deputy City Manager in 2017 then Assistant City Manager in 2018. Currently, France oversees the Economic Development Department, the Purchasing Department, Visit Buena Park and Marketing and social media efforts.
France holds a BA in Communication from California State University Fullerton and an MA in Public Administration. He is a resident of Orange County and the proud parent of two sons, Aaron Jr. and Owen.
