6 people shot, 1 killed, in dining tent at Pancake House in Morgan Park – CBS Chicago


CHICAGO (CBS) – Six people were gunned down on Sunday afternoon – and one was killed – while dining outside at a Morgan Park creperie.The shooting took place around 2 p.m. at the Lumes Pancake House at 11601 S. Western Ave.

Six adults were shot dead while eating outside under a tent the restaurant had set up, firefighters said.

One person was dead at the scene. Three others were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in severe to critical condition, and two others were taken to OSF Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Evergreen Park in fair to severe condition and in good condition.

Police said the person who was killed was a male and was the target of the shooting. A white sport utility vehicle pulled up and someone fired shots while eating, police said.

A waitress described the chaos when gunshots rang out. She said a lot of young people just sat down to eat.

“Everyone started running, and they were in the back, they were shooting. The guys came into the tent and started shooting everyone in the tent, ”the waitress said. “We had to run inside and two people were shot.

Zone Two detectives were investigating Sunday afternoon. No one was in detention.
