The 49ers made a pair of moves to remedy their sudden lack of help on the wide receiver.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the 49ers plan to sign veteran receivers JJ Nelson and Tavon Austin.

Deals are on hold for physique after a Friday morning workout.

They entered the short camp at position, with Deebo Samuel (Jones fractured left foot) and Richie James (fractured right wrist) on the active / non-football injury list. The situation worsened when Travis Benjamin stepped down over concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic.

Austin has spent the past two seasons with the Cowboys, yet to live up to his draft status (picked eighth overall in 2013). Nelson was with the Raiders last year, having spent his first four seasons with the Cardinals.
