Willson Rocks Another, Schwarber Off Hendricks, Darvish Fingernail, Plus

Tonight’s intrasquad game was a revenge for the Cubs’ two possible starters for the opening day, with Yu Darvish and Kyle Hendricks each around three to four innings, then the bullpen – Rowan Wick, Trevor Megill and Ryan Tepera among them. And well, the Cubs won 5-1 in six innings:

Darvish and Hendricks were mostly just too good for bats (tons of strikeouts, no walks, very few hits), although Kyle Schwarber got Hendricks for an oppo shot in his last run of work:

One of Hendricks’ hits came from newcomer Hernan Perez:

The Darvish part of the night lasted for absolutely atrocious 30 seconds:

Darvish stayed in the game, however, and the Cubs later announced it was a hassle-free nail problem.

Also scary, but probably good:

If the Cubs are carrying a third catcher out of the gate – which is indeed possible on a list of 30 men – Phegley would be the guy:

Willson Contreras released one on Waveland off Trevor Megill:

I love this. Rizzo sits alone in the stands, watching his teammates play an intrasquad match. It’s baseball 2020:

Jon Lester is not launching in the intrasquads yet, but he did his first live BP session yesterday, which seems to have gone well:
