Nando’s is about to reopen 10 restaurants for diners after the restaurants close in the face of the coronavirus shutdown.

The fast food giant will reopen locations in cities across England, with security measures including virtual queuing and full table service.

The chain said it will serve from a “reduced” menu to support staff, but will still serve popular items such as peri-peri chicken wings, butterfly chicken, halloumi sticks and chips.

It is the first time that customers have been allowed in since the coronavirus lockdown and all UK Nandos stores were closed on March 23.

They will be alerted when their table is ready via an SMS or a notification in the application.

The hungry guests will then be invited to order and pay for their table using their telephone.

During this time, the staff will also bring all PERi-PERi food, drinks, cutlery, sauces and napkins directly to the table.

Customers and staff will also be invited to adhere to strict government social distancing protocols.

It is the latest in a long line of other restaurant chains, including Wagamama and KFC, which have recently taken over the service of hungry customers.

In March, the government ordered restaurants to close as part of the foreclosure but continued to allow restaurants to offer take-out and pick-up services, as per health and safety guidelines.

Nando’s had previously reopened 94 of its restaurants for delivery and collection after the closure of sites facing the closure of the coronavirus.

The chain said it will serve from a “reduced” menu to support staff, but will still serve popular items such as peri-peri chicken wings, butterfly chicken, halloumi sticks and chips.

The company said all click and collect orders should be placed online through Nandos.co.uk to avoid queues and keep customers and staff safe.

It comes weeks after the chicken restaurant is delighted customers by launching “at home” kits to recreate dishes at home.

The restaurant has partnered with the Mindful Chef recipe box brand to launch a limited edition range of recipe boxes.

For just £ 6 per person, buyers will receive everything they need to recreate one of the chain’s iconic dishes.

Customers can choose between butterfly chicken, fries and coleslaw or a quarter of chicken thighs, green peas and sweet mash.

Each box contains pre-portioned ingredients, step-by-step recipes and a bottle of Nando’s Medium PERi-PERi sauce.
