Watford plays host to Norwich City in a fixture to avoid relegation to the championship.

While the Canaries, too, will know that victory here is essential to keep alive any hope of staying in the Premier League. Gerard Deulofeu and Andre Gray scored at Carrow Road in November to hand the Hornets a 2-0 victory despite Christian Kabasele’s red card with 25 minutes remaining, although the Spaniard is likely to be away for the rest of the season – a blow to Nigel. Pearson’s team trying to score a three-game losing streak here.

Follow all of Vicarage Road’s updates and feedback below.

71 min: Vrancic sends an overly ambitious search ball towards Pukki, but he overcooks it and watches him run behind him for a kick.

70 min: Not a bad way to mark it.

68 min: A more enjoyable and complex building game from Norwich, with Buendia in the center. However, Watford quickly removed the danger. It’s more style than substance on the part of visitors. It’s time for another drink break.

66 min: Cleverley sends the set towards the new prolific Dawson, who beat him this time. The ball was finally played in the middle by Watford, and Cleverley struck a forehand at Krul.

65 min: A frustrated Lewis bursts into Sarr and concedes a free kick, which Watford will undoubtedly send into the box. Sarr had a decent game tonight, although his end product was not always there.

61 min: Some scares for Watford, first when Hernandez sends a ball to the goal area, then when Pukki enters the area under a challenge from Kabasele, who roughly arrives at the ball before taking the man.

59 min: Tom Cleverley is replacing Will Hughes.

58 min: Norwich is looking for an instant answer. Vrancic’s shot is blocked but the ball comes to him and passes it through Pukki’s feet. He can’t control, and Watford is clearly hacking. From the corner that follows, Klose finds a little space but he too sees his effort blocked.

OBJECTIF! Watford 2-1 Norwich (Welbeck) 56 min

Wow! A superb aerial kick from Welbeck to put Watford in front. McLean’s first implication is to fail in his attempts to stop Sarr, who rushes to the right and returns to the middle. It’s not a big ball, but Aarons’ attempt to untangle loops through the air and falls perfectly for Welbeck to score an amazing goal.

55 min: McLean replaces Tettey for visitors.

54 min: Luck! Really well worked from Norwich. Vrancic begins by choosing Stiepermann, who in turn finds Lewis on the left. Hernandez made his first cross kick, the shot was blocked. The ball then goes out to Aarons, and his powerful effort is parried by Foster.

51 min: The second half started at a fairly slow pace. It feels like a key game in the group stages of a World Cup. Neither side seems ready to brave a more aggressive approach and risk conceding.

49 min: Welbeck does well to drive inside the left and pull a fault from Tettey, who must be careful when booking. Hughes’s free kick is rejected by Klose.

47 min: Watford immediately takes possession and leaves the visitors. Lewis advances to the left and center for Pukki, who takes a wide look from the head from a fair game out.

Watford takes us back on the road. A draw is not suitable for anyone here, so at some point, both teams will have to risk defeat and push the players forward. It will be the responsibility of the local team.

Elsewhere, Chelsea are 2-1 against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. The Blues have taken the lead, but a scruple of Wilfried Zaha gave Roy Hodgson hope of a return.

Watford, worrisome, currently relies on a central defender for goals. Only Dawson has scored for them since the start of the season.

That’s it for the first half. It is pretty clear why the two teams are struggling. Watford has been far too passive, mostly threatening set kicks and doing very little to upset their opposition to the open game. Norwich, on the other hand, played good football, as he often does. Buendia’s goal was excellent, but a sloppy defense dropped them again.

45 + 2 min: Deeney raises a center towards Doucouré, which is far from the target.
