Could the actor have, in fact, inspired the John Wick films?
Charlize Theron’s ‘Atomic Blonde’ is closely linked to the series ‘John Wick’
Before we discuss Theron’s alleged connection to John Wick, it should be noted how the original version of 2014 influenced his career. After the first John Wick, director Chad Stahelski and uncredited co-director David Leitch separated. Stahelski stayed for the aftermath. Meanwhile, Leitch launched a new action franchise.
The result was 2017 Atomic blonde. In the film, Theron plays Lorraine Broughton, an MI6 agent on a dangerous mission in the late 1980s. The action style and combat choreography – thanks to Leith’s involvement – are often compared to John Wick. And Theron and Keanu Reeves even trained for Atomic blonde and John Wick: Chapter 2 at the same time.

But it turns out that Theron herself may have helped shape the first “John Wick”
It is therefore clear that John Wick inspired Atomic blonde, at least aesthetically if nothing else. But The Hollywood Reporter established an even deeper relationship between John Wick and Theron. In a new interview, THR writer Brian Davids asks Theron if she knew she was “inspiring” John Wick. And the actress is just as perplexed as the rest of us.
Davids goes on to explain that the link lies in the years 2001 Sweet november, a romantic drama with Theron and Reeves. In this film, the terminally illustrious character of Theron sends his dog (Reeves) a dog. Likewise, John Wick’s wife succumbs to an illness and sends a dog to keep him company. The death of this animal, of course, sets off the whole series.
” Oh my God! I can’t believe you just made that connection, “said Theron in response to THR’s theory. “You are such a movie nerd; I love you. It’s incredible. Oh my god – I’m literally going to text [Keanu Reeves] right now and tell him that. “

Could the worlds of “John Wick” and “Atomic Blonde” ever intersect?
More than likely, this link between Sweet november and John Wick is purely a coincidence. But that strengthens the bond between the careers of Theron and Reeves. The two stars have worked together once before in 1997 Devil’s advocate and stay close friends. So it stands to reason that many fans hope to see a Atomic blonde–John Wick crossover.
Theron confirms that an Atomic Blonde sequel is in preparation at Netflix. But there is still no word on what the franchise can bring beyond that. However, it is poetic for Leitch and Stahelski to launch John Wick together and then come together to perhaps co-lead a mash-up with Reeves and Theron, two stars whose careers are so closely linked.
