Victim returned this evening (July 11) after a six-week break with a revolutionary episode.

The report focused on Jade Lovall and how she navigates the world as a deaf woman and a nurse – and viewers thought it was an incredible way to show Jade’s story as she was preparing to meet her birth mother for the first time since she abandoned her when she was 3 years old.

Jade (Gabriella Leon) was convinced that Susie (Sophie Stone) had trafficked her as a child because of her deafness.

However, when they first saw each other, they both realized the other was deaf, which really confused Jade as she tried to get answers from her.

Viewers thought it was “smart” to showcase Jade as a character with an invisible disability and show how difficult life can be for her at times.

One viewer tweeted, “Centering this episode entirely on Jade is such a great move. Putting a hidden handicap like being deaf in the foreground of an episode is so smart. “

Another wrote: “Tonight’s episode Victim. Seeing Jade’s world was amazing and I hope it’s a step in the right direction to help correct discriminatory behavior towards deaf people. Bravo to the entire casting team. ”

Above all, the episode was written by deaf writers Charlie Swinbourne and Sophie Woolley, and directed by deaf director John Maidens.

One viewer tweeted, “These scenes with Jade and his mom are so powerful. This is why it is so important to write and play disabled characters with disabled people. “

Elsewhere, in addition to seeing the inside of Jade’s world, there was also an update on fan favorite couple Zoe Hanna and Max Walker, which fans loved.

The last viewers had heard, the couple was trying to have a baby and tonight it was mentioned that they had adopted a baby boy. Aww!
