UCI publishes 2021 calendar as Tour de France advances due to Olympic Games and men’s Ride London will not be WorldTour

The UCI has released the 20201 schedule, with the Tour de France moved to host the Olympics while RideLondon has not applied to be a WorldTour race.

The cycling governing body has released an update on what the WorldTour racing calendar will look like next year, after the 2020 season has been completely redesigned due to the coronavirus.

For the Women’s WorldTour calendar, Paris-Roubaix will return for a second edition after the prestigious race was finally introduced for women in 2020, while the women’s RideLondon will retain its WorldTour status.

Men’s WorldTour 2021 calendar

With the Tokyo Olympics postponed to 2020 due to the coronavirus, the Games have instead been pushed back to 2021, from July 23 to August 8, with road races taking place on July 24, 25 and 28.

This initially caused a conflict with the scheduled dates for the Tour de France 2021 from July 2 to 25, but the UCI has now postponed the Tour to end on July 18, so riders finishing in Paris will have a week to travel to Japan for the Olympics.
