Two police officers hospitalized after a violent attack


Two police officers had to be hospitalized after being attacked at Ellesmere Port.Police were assaulted as they attempted to make an arrest, Cheshire Police said.

At around 8:30 a.m. Monday morning, the Force was called in to hear reports of men acting aggressively on Wesminster Road.

Once arrived, a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damages, while another fled on foot, reports Cheshire Live.

He was later caught and arrested, but at the time of his detention the police were attacked.

Both were transported to hospital and one was discharged from the hospital, while the other is still being treated.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: ‘At approximately 8:30 am on Monday July 20, police were called to report two men were acting aggressively on Westminster Road in Ellesmere Port.

“Police officers attended the scene and arrested a 22-year-old man suspected of criminal offenses.

“A second man fled the scene and was chased on foot by police.

“The officers later located the man and he was also arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.

“During the arrest, two officers were assaulted.

“The two officers were taken to the hospital for screening – one was released and the other remains in the hospital at that time. “
