Travel Manitoba Encourages Tourism In Our “Backyard”

WINNIPEG – As Manitoba continues its reopening process, Travel Manitoba encourages Manitobans, as well as residents of western Canada and northwestern Ontario, to rediscover what they love about the province. Travel Manitoba began the second phase of its tourism recovery campaign on Monday.

Newly published ads focus on Manitobans who stay in the province and take advantage of everything Manitoba has to offer, while inviting others from outside the province to explore.

Part of the campaign focuses on outdoor activities, ideal for holidays or stays in complete safety with COVID-19.

“This is a great opportunity to go out and explore your own backyard and show Manitoba some love this summer because the house is where the heart is,” said Colin Ferguson, president and chief. from the management of Travel Manitoba.

Tourism was an important industry in the province before COVID-19 because it brought in $ 1.6 billion.

Since the pandemic, losses should be between 25 and 60% and estimated job losses between 6,800 and 11,000.

Travel Manitoba reports that it estimates that 85% of visits and 58% of expenses come from Manitobans traveling in the province.
