Everything about the remake of ‘The Witches’
Original from the 1990s The witches was a fantasy / family movie starring Anjelica Huston as the Chief Witch, or as they called her in the movie: The Grand High Witch. When a witches convention comes together to carry out their evil plan – to turn all the children into mice – a grandma (Helga) and grandson (Luke) duo must team up to take down the witches once and for all. Yet Luke is caught spying on the witches, which is how he finds out about their plan. And, he has to work with his grandmother like a talking mouse – sometimes with strategic advantages!
The film is quite dark, and Huston delivers a juicy and mean performance – one that Anne Hathaway will be tasked with experiencing. The witches The remake is currently in post-production and was originally slated to hit theaters in 2020, but the future of movie releases remains largely unknown at this time. Robert Zemeckis (Back to the future, Forrest Gump, rejected) will lead. Anna Hathaway, Octavia Spencer, Stanley Tucci, Chris Rock and many more are expected to star.

Hopefully the original pays homage to the source material – keeping the film’s rather dark and mature moments, despite its family-oriented demographics. The combination of the obscurity, humor, and utter ridicule of the original is what won viewers over. Still, the film will also need a small dose of contemporary flair to suit a modern audience.
What we know so far about ‘Hocus Pocus 2’
L’original Hocus Pocus – telling the story of three witch-sisters raised from the dead – debuted to critical condemnation. Yet over the years it has become a cult classic, with several Halloweens working to solidify its place in our culture through ABC Family. The three witches trying to suck off the youngsters of the children: Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy. Their chemistry was unmistakable, their energy contagious and Bette Midler (as always) was a hoot!

Adam Shankman (Hairspray, Rock of Ages) is set to make the film for Disney +, and the original cast would be interested in returning! Hoping that the three sisters take their brooms back to Hocus Pocus 2.
While this movie is more of a sequel, after so many years since the original it will work as a remake via contemporary cinematography, and likely a narrative that doesn’t exactly follow the conclusion of the first (as such would be a bit implausible and lazy.). Considering Adam Shankman’s familiarity with movie musicals, he can just give Divine Miss M a few shots to sing a spell on the audience as well.
