Former Strictly Come Dancing star Kevin Clifton has announced an unexpected career change.The professional dancer will swap jives and two-steps for his other passion in life which is wrestling.

The 37-year-old is set to co-host the UK’s number one WWE podcast, Gorilla Position.

Taking to Twitter to share the exciting announcement of his career, Kevin insisted his love for the sport emerged when he was just six years old.

Although he pursued his dream of becoming a professional dancer, his deep interest in WWE has never left him since he was a child.

Now he’s finally seizing the opportunity to immerse himself in extreme sport by hosting the much-loved informative podcast.

Kevin explained, “I have loved wrestling from a young age.

“I gathered the figures, wore the T-shirts and watched the VHS tapes on repeat. I’ve always been drawn to characters, drama, athleticism and theatricality. ”

While they may appear to be completely different sports, the former Strictly star detailed the similarities he sees between dancing and wrestling.

“There’s a big part of the host in me when I’m on TV or performing on stage.

Kevin added, “Now being a co-host of not only a WWE podcast that I’ve been listening to for years, but also the biggest in the country, is so exciting.

“It’s a real passionate project and I can’t wait to get started. ”

The TV star will join Gorilla Position founder James Delow as co-host of the podcast.

The knowledgeable pair will provide WWE fans with hardcore interviews with wrestling superstars, upcoming events and match results.



Kevin says he’s tempted to return to Strictly someday

Kevin’s exciting career change comes after the professional dancer hinted that he may one day make a return to Strictly Come Dancing.

The 37-year-old has announced that he will be leaving the BBC One competition show in March after nine years on the dance floor.

But he now admits that with the coronavirus lockdown pushing his live tour indefinitely, he is tempted to return to Strictly one day.

He told the Guardian, “I can’t leave my sister dry and go back there Strictly but I don’t know. Never say never.

“I made this decision [to leave Strictly] and I would feel weird if I suddenly came back. ”
