Onlookers said the man started arguing with employees and several customers, when Spencer and his dinner partner, Jan Phillip Mueller, jumped out of their seats in an attempt to calm the situation down.
“My friend and I did what anyone else would do in the same situation,” Grammer says in a statement to Us Weekly. “Several other people, mostly women, were also trying to prevent the altercation from escalating.
“I suffered a tear in my arm and my friend was stabbed in the back, but luckily he did not suffer any serious internal injuries. We plan to recover quickly. We would like to thank the first responders and staff at Bellevue Hospital, who provided us with excellent care. They have fought an incredible battle this year. It was very moving for us to have the opportunity to thank them in person.
