The Red Sox finally got some more good news on the pitch front. Southpaws Eduardo Rodriguez and Darwinzon Hernandez, each sidelined due to coronavirus considerations, are back at camp, Alex Speier tweets from the Boston Globe. They will still have to prepare for the preparation for the regular season.
Godley, 30, was recently released by the Tigers. Since attending the Detroit organization’s summer camp, Godley has been in a relatively advanced position in terms of preparation. With Boston’s rotation running out of experienced options, it is considered a plug-and-go option.
It remains to be seen whether Godley can seize the opportunity. He has had his chances in recent years but so far has not regained the form he had shown earlier in his career. In his best season, 2017, Godley completed 155 innings of 3.37 with an ERA throw with 9.6 K / 9, 3.1 BB / 9 and a ground ball rate of 55.3%.
