In the trailer, we see a European Seth Rogen who struggles to do so in 1919. He and his wife emigrate to America hoping to pursue the American dream. He ends up finding a job in a pickle canning factory, where one day he falls into a bowl of pickle juice. His work is closed and he is declared dead, up to 100 years later when his body is perfectly preserved in the pickle juice.
It sounds far-fetched, but the trailer is light and funny. 1919 Seth Rogen meets his great descendant of 2020 (also played by Seth Rogen), then the real comedy begins. Directed by Brandon Trost, the film stars Rogen, Sarah Snook, Kalen Allen and more. An American pickle will begin broadcasting on HBO Max on August 6.
