Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans join forces for epic spy thriller

For all the fans who feel like Ryan Gosling or Chris Evans haven’t received enough screen time lately, let’s just say you’re in luck. The beautiful stars just signed a major Hollywood action thriller project titled The Gray Man, where they will fight, at the CIA – and there might even be potential for a franchise.

The upcoming project is based on the series of bestsellers by Mark Greaney and will draw on the talents of the writers and directors who brought us Avengers: Endgame. In reality, The Gray Man represents the first film Joe and Anthony Russo will make since setting the world box office record with End of Game. Not to mention, Joe Russo directed and wrote Extraction with Chris Hemsworth, who became the most watched original Netflix film of all time. Sure to say they set the bar high enough.

The story follows Court Gentry, a former CIA member played by Gosling who, after leaving the intelligence agency, became an independent assassin. Evans, meanwhile, will play his former colleague turned nemesis, Lloyd Hansen, who hunts him across the world. Based on the books, Court (also known as the “Gray Man”) is a legend in the Secret Realm, but must fight deadly forces who believe he has “outlived his use” (AKA Chris Evans ).

Honestly, they had us at Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling’s. But please tell us more.

While international filming timelines and locations have yet to be finalized, they apparently plan to start filming in January. Apparently, the project was originally developed years ago as a Brad Pitt / James Gray project, but has since found new life (and a new cast) with Netflix, the Russo brothers, and their new content company AGBO.

In an interview with Deadline, the Russo brothers highlighted what viewers should expect, noting that the film will likely strike a chord with fans of Captain America: Winter Soldier, due to its similar real environment. “The film is a real mano a mano between these two great actors who represent two different versions of the CIA, in what it can be and what it can do,” said Anthony Russo.

Joe Russo also stepped in, explaining that the intention of the project is to be competitive with any theatrical blockbuster. “The ability to do with Gosling and Evans is a dream for us. The idea is to create a franchise and build a whole universe, with Ryan at the center, ”Joe said. “We all signed up for the first film, and that must be great to bring us to the second film. They are master assassins, and Gosling’s characters are burnt by the CIA and Evans character has to hunt him down. ”

It’s also worth mentioning that the film will be Netflix’s most financially ambitious project to date, with an announced budget of $ 200 million and changes. Big risk, big reward?
