Rob Van Dam, Matt Sydal and Paul London were featured in a new High Times article on marijuana use in the wrestling industry, WWE drug testing policies and more. You can check out some highlights from RVD and Sydal’s comments below:RVD on adding the aspect in his character after seeing an RVD 420 sign in ECW: “I immediately identified myself with. I thought to myself, “I would love to be the poster boy for grass because I love grass so much.” ”

RVD on Stephanie McMahon talking to her about smoking pot during WWE: “She said, ‘Look if you’re going to get high, at least be discreet about it.’ ”

RVD for losing his titles and being suspended after being arrested for possession of 18 grams of pot: “No trial, nothing at all. It was much better before I got arrested. When I came back, [ECW] was rapidly moving towards its ultimate destruction. ”

Sydal on known pot smokers tested more often: “Immediately in my stage of development to the fight [with WWE], it has become a problem for me to have to play the game of “Can I smoke today or am I afraid to take the test?” »»

Sydal on the risk of failure of drug tests to treat pain related to injuries: “The consequences were extremely marked and the psychological consequences even more difficult … [The failed drug test] hurt my self-confidence because a failure implied that I was a person with bad moral character. ”

Sydal on ostracized for having smoked pot: “I felt like I was almost ostracized and persecuted for my personal choices … After each failed test, I felt more like a failure, and I had no idea how to handle this shame. “
