France has had a stand at the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival since its creation in 1996. This year, their stand has several “new” items that we actually saw earlier this year at the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival. But it’s still worth taking a look at these articles and picking up slush to beat the heat!

Caramelized Onion and Goat Cheese Tart: Goat Cheese Tart with Caramelized Onions on a flaky Pastry Crust – $ 5.50

The goat cheese pie was good, but not worth the price. I mean, it’s good, but why pay so much for a little piece of bread with onions and goat cheese?

Confit duck with Orange: Orange braised duck confit with mashed sweet potatoes – $ 6.25

Confit duck with Orange: Orange braised duck confit with mashed sweet potatoes – $ 6.25

Our team gave mixed reviews to this duck. Some really liked it and others didn’t. There’s a sweet potato mash underneath, and it’s not great, but nothing good either. The flavors are nice when you combine all the pieces. The sauce, the meat and the Parmesan shavings combined made the whole better than the sum of its parts. Some of us loved it and some of us tried to love it.

Tarte Tropezienne, Raspberry Coulis: Brioche cake filled with light pastry cream and served with raspberry coulis – $ 3.00

Tarte Tropezienne, Raspberry Coulis: Brioche cake filled with light pastry cream and served with raspberry coulis – $ 3.00

It didn’t sound like much, but the pastry, garnish, and sauce surprised us. The raspberry coulis is thick with a strong flavor. It may look like salt on top, but it’s actually a very delicate sugar crystal. Fortunately, it is not too sweet. The pastry cream and cake are dense. The cream tastes light and sweet, but is quite thick. We thought the bread / custard ratio was perfect.

Kronenbourg Blanc 1664 Pale Lager Draft (5.0% ABV) – $ 4.75 (6oz) and $ 8.75 (12oz)

From Untappd: “1664 Blanc is an original wheat beer. It is a different white beer, fresh and fruity, slightly bitter with notes of citrus and coriander spices. “

* NEW * VeRy Raspberry: Rosé wine with a natural raspberry flavor ($ 9 / bottle) – $ 5.75

From Luneau USA Inc., VeRy Raspberry has “a pale pink color like raspberry pulp”, with a “subtle and round aroma on the nose with persistent aromas of raspberry”. They add, “fresh and silky on the palate, this wine is the perfect balance between good acidity and the roundness of the raspberry. “

* NEW * Bordeaux, Merlot and Cabernet Blend, Château Tarin ($ 10 / bottle) – $ 6.00

From Luneau USA Inc., Bordeaux has “smoldering black cherry black fruits enhanced by balanced acidity on the finish. The blend is made from 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.

La Vie en Rose Frozen Slushy: Vodka, Gray Goose L’Orange Vodka ($ 28 / bottle), St. Germain Liqueur ($ 32 / bottle), White and red cranberry juice – $ 11.75

Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival Fleur de Lys
La Vie en Rose Frozen Slushy: Vodka, Gray Goose L’Orange Vodka ($ 28 / bottle), St. Germain Liqueur ($ 32 / bottle), White and red cranberry juice – $ 11.75

France once again brings an alcoholic porridge to the Festival. This time, it is a very floral and fruity vodka of light pink color. It really smells like a rose! Saint-Germain liqueur does not dominate cranberry and orange flavors, making it a well-balanced cocktail. Recommended.
